Weekly Competition Procedures
as Amended, January 2025
You need to be an active member of the Men's Club and have a USGA handicap to play. We play on Wednesdays with the first tee time starting at 8am. We are required to sign up each time we want to play on the week before. If you do not have an established handicap, you need to be assigned a temporary one to play. A tournament director can assign you one until you have can get a USGA one, so if you need a temporary one, contact a tournament director.

John Will, one of our tournament directors (johndrummerwill@yahoo.com), (442) 266-2686 does the tee assignments. John send an email out each Wednesday after we play designating next week's game and requesting those who want to play on the following Wednesday to respond by Saturday. Each Monday, John sends out a list of tee assignments for the coming Wednesday. Also on Monday, you will receive another email from Paul Smith the other tournament director which will give the results for last weeks play and the game and rules for Wednesday's play. If you are not going to be in the competition, do not play on team event days unless you have advised John and he can fit you in.

Each month you will receive a calendar showing the competition for that month and the Course Handicap (CH) report which lists the course handicaps to use for the tees we play from, as well as the team handicap (TH). That handicap stats the same for the entire month for purposes of our competition, regardless of any updates that you might receive from USGA. You need to check yours and put it on your scorecard. For all individual events, you will use your CH. For most team events you will use your TH handicap. You do not use your handicap index (HI).

As to competition, there is a fee of $10.00 each week. The fee is in addition to the green fees and cart fee you pay to the course. There will be a table set up in the bar area with the tee times for each foursome. Highlight your name and put $10 cash in the box marked for it. We tabulate the results and the winners get a course credit which is usually announced the following Monday emails. We try to alternate each week between individual and team events. Team events usually involve all or part of the foursome you get in. Also, each week we vie for closest to the hole, usually on #11 and #13.
